Westray Christmas Fair

it was the Westray Christmas Fair at the weekend. Held in the Parish Kirk with refreshments provided by the RNLI it was an enjoyable if not massively profitable event.

It was rather quieter than in previous years. As a few people said, I think money is a bit tight this year with the general cost of living. Of course, I have to mention the lack of winter fuel payment as a lot of people who come to this event are affected by this.

The other factor was the weather as it was both wet and blowing a hooley. In fact I had to hang on to Marlene walking to the car when we left the kirk!

At the end of the day we didn’t do badly and, by the sound of things did better than many.

Regardless it is always a pleasant afternoon out and a chance to chat to folk about the things we make and also to just have a general blether.

Then there is always the cakes!
