Workshop Tour

Someone asked me the other day about my workshop so I thought I would do a quick workshop tour post.

Here is a quick-n-dirty video of the workshop. It’s a bit flickery as I slowed down the video to enable the machine description texts to be read.

Here is a list of the machinery that I have in my workshop –

Table Saw:
Metabo TKHS 315 M 2.5kW saw with 300mm diameter blade. I also use this as a work table for finishing and assembling things so it has plastic protective covers which I forgot to remove for the video.

Wood Lathe:
Axminster AW355WL with a maximum turning diameter of 355mm and (with the bed extension) 740mm between centres.

Planer Thicknesser
Triton TPT125 thicknesser for planing stock up to 317mm wide to thicknesses from 3.2 – 152mm.

Belt/Disc Sander
Clarke CBS1-%B with a 1″ belt and 5″ disc. I have removed the table from the belt sanding section and re-configured this to use as a lathe tool shapener. Way, way, cheaper than a Sorby Pro-edge. Probably not as capable/versatile but it does me.

Band Saw
Axminster make but I can’t see a model number on it anywhere. It has maximum cutting height (thickness) of 200m and a throat (material width) of 330mm.

Scrollsaw
Delta 40-450 16″ scrolls. Throat depth 16″ maximum cutting height 2″.

Spindle & Belt Sander
Triton TSPST450 oscillating sander with belt unit for flat sanding and round sleeves for spindle sanding.

Flap Sander
A bench grinder with a chuck fitted allowing the use of flap wheels primarily used for smoothing intarsia parts.

Laser
Sculpfun S30 Pro 10W laser. Working are of approximately 300mm x300mm.

Drill Press
Energer 13mm drill press.

Dust/Chip Extractor
Nutool dust extractor (not shown in video).

Bright eyed people may have also spotted a microwave that I sue for rapid drying of wet turned bowls.

I think that is about it!
