Carrying on from my last post here are the last few steps in the construction of my Dagobah swamp diorama.
Here I have applied plaster of paris over the base to even out the insulation board and blend in the trees. I have also used hemp twine to add vines and chopped off ends of infant school style paint brushes to make clumps of weed.
I’ve also used herbs to add fallen leaves and general forest detritus.
After adding these I gave the overall thing a few coats of paint.
Finally, onto the main part, adding the X-Wing fighter and characters. These characters were held in place using superglue and the space craft was raised on a 3mm dowel and glued in place using UV resin. Next, swamps wed was added and “wetted” using UV resin.
The swamp proper was created by pouring in two part resin. There was a bit (lot) of a failure here as I forgot to seal around the edges of the base to the box and a lot of the resin ran out through these gaps!
I had thought to add more resin once this had set but decided the messy surface actually fit in with it being a swamp.
